Networking

This last week was a great week of networking.  Met with two executive recruiters and re-engaged with a former CEO of mine who now runs a VC firm.  As it ends up, his VC group is funding a start-up here in Irvine, and I went through the interview process with the management team.  Fingers crossed as I felt I did pretty good in the interviews and I really liked the team and feel like I could contribute.

You never know when your next networking outreach will result in a job opportunity.  My friend is from Austin and very rarely invests in companies outside of Texas.  I got lucky (if this goes through), but it does help to network even if you don’t think anything will come of it.

Staying engaged

So here’s my attempt at my first blog. In a way, it seems therapeutic to me in answering the question, “how do I stay engaged and sane during my search for my next CFO position?”

I’ve decided that it’s a combination of 4 things:  1) continue to do fun things with the family; 2) keeping my brain engaged with business activities; 3) networking; and 4) doing things that I enjoy.

In the coming days/weeks, I hope to continue my “therapy” by writing my blogs capturing my progress against the goals.
